Para poder mejorar

La pandemia está llegando a su fin y estoy reflexionando sobre cómo han cambiado las cosas. Desde los primeros días, cuando comenzó el encierro, comprendí la necesidad de ser más flexible y tolerante dadas las graves interrupciones y dificultades que enfrentaban muchos estudiantes. Sin embargo, también puedo ver que los niveles de motivación, entusiasmo y compromiso de algunos alumnos no han vuelto a ser lo que era antes de la pandemia.

Para ayudar a todos, voy a establecer algunas reglas básicas que todos los estudiantes (no las clases de adultos) deben respetar.
Además, a partir del próximo año incluiré estas reglas como parte del proceso de registro, para que todos sepan exactamente lo que hay que hacer durante el curso cuando se estén inscribiendo.

1. Los estudiantes deben llegar a tiempo
Es muy molesto para el flujo de la clase cuando los estudiantes llegan tarde. También es una falta de respeto a quienes llegaron a tiempo y ya han comenzado su lección.

Se dará 5 minutos de cortesía, después de estos 5 minutos la clase continuará y las puertas se cerrarán. Si se llega tarde a clase con causa justificada nos puede avisar y se le dejará entrar.

2. Los estudiantes deben hacer su tarea semanal (online)
Los estudiantes que vengan a clase, pero no hayan hecho su tarea serán enviados a casa. (Esto se contará como falta de asistencia)

3. Se debe alcanzar un nivel aceptable de tarea
Algunos estudiantes empiezan a hacer sus deberes en los "columpios" sin ningún esfuerzo o con muy poco esfuerzo para cumplir con la regla anterior. Cualquier estudiante que obtenga 32 puntos o menos será invitado a una clase de recuperación el domingo por la mañana.

4. Los estudiantes deben asistir a sus clases
Si tiene 3 faltas de asistencia seguidas sin justificar perderán su lugar en la academia. 
(Esto no se aplica a permisos de ausencia legítimos como vacaciones, mala salud, compromisos inevitables, etc.)

* estas normas aplican solo para las clases de niños.

 

¿Qué puede hacer un estudiante si tiene algún problema?

Se anima a los estudiantes a participar y hacer preguntas durante la clase. Se les pregunta a todos para asegurarse de que comprenden la base de la lección de la semana, pero si todavía le resulta difícil, tiene varias opciones:

1. Consultar las herramientas que hay en su panel de control de estudiantes. Además de los enlaces a otros recursos, también hay descargas a recursos multimedia como audio y video.

2. Comunicarse conmigo a través de correo electrónico (info@rioja-english.com) o WhatsApp y les responderé lo antes posible.

3. Comunicarse por teléfono. Intentaré resolver la duda enviándoles un mensaje con algunos ejemplos.

4. Venir a la academia y hablar conmigo en persona. En este caso, es mejor llamar primero para asegurarse de que estoy en la academia. Si no puedo en ese momento, podemos concertar otro rato que sea conveniente para ambos y solucionaremos la duda.

 

Cualquier estudiante que me dé el 100% de esfuerzo puede esperar lo mismo de mí.

In order to improve

The pandemic is drawing to a close and I am reflecting on how things have changed. From the early days when the lockdown first started, I understood the need to be more flexible and tolerant given the severe disruption and difficulties many students faced. However, I can also see that the levels of motivation, enthusiasm and commitment have not returned to what they were pre-pandemic.

So as to help everyone, I am going to set down some basic rules which all students (not adult classes) must respect. Furthermore, as of next year I will be including these terms and conditions as part of the registration processes, so everyone knows exactly what they are signing up for.

Students must arrive on time
It is very disruptive to the class flow when students arrive late in dribs and drabs. It is also disrespectful to those who have arrived and started their lesson. I will give 5 minutes grace after which the class will proceed, and the doors closed.
 

Students must do their weekly homework (online)
Students who come to class but have not completed their homework, or scribbled something on a piece of paper, will be sent home. (This will be counted as nonattendance)
 

Acceptable homework level must be reached
Some students have taken to doing their homework on the ‘columpios’ with no, or very little effort, so as to comply with the above rule. Any student scoring 32 points or less will be invited back to a catch-up class on a Sunday morning.
 

Students must attend their classes
3 consecutive non-attendance will forfeit your place in the academy.
This does not apply to a legitimate, rational leave of absence such as vacations, ill health, and unavoidable commitments etc.

What can a student do if they are experiencing problems?

Students are encouraged to engage and ask questions during the class. Everyone is questioned to make sure they understand the basis of the weeks lesson. If someone still finds it difficult, there are a number of options open to them.

Refer to the online tools they have on their student control panel. Apart from links to further resources, they may also have downloads and media resources such as audio and video.
 

Students may communicate a question via email (info@rioja-english.com) or WhatsApp which will be answered as soon as possible.
 

Students may contact me by phone and explain the problem. I will attempt to resolve the issue or send them a message with some examples.
 

Students may come to the academy and speak to me in person. In this case, it’s best to call first to make sure I am there. If I am not, we can arrange a mutually convenient time to discuss the problem.

Any student who gives me 100% of effort can expect the same back from me.
